Word Of Faith Movement
What is the Word of Faith Movement?
In classifying the Word of Faith Movement, it is more precise to use the term cultic, which means cult-like. Cults are groups with uniform sets of doctrines and rigidly defined organizational structures. They are monolithic. On the other hand, Movements are multifaceted and diverse in their beliefs, teachings and practices. While certain groups within the Word of Faith Movement can be properly defined as cults, the word cultic more aptly describes the movement as a whole. The numerous Word of Faith teachers should be judged on an individual basis. For example, Kenneth Copeland Ministries, headed by Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, bears all the marks of a cult. 1) It has a formalized hierarchical structure. 2) It boasts a centralized organizational facility. 3) It is equipped with a publishing arm complete with a distribution mechanism. 4) Fervent followers consider the Copelands to be the final authority in matters of faith and practice.

Nine Points of WOF Theology
1. Faith
They believe it is always God’s will for Christians to be healthy. If you have faith in your faith (the force being your words of faith), you can speak things into existence. If you have enough faith, you are guaranteed healing (similar to Christian Science doctrine). Followers have died because of this teaching, refusing to seek medical treatment.
2. Healing
Isaiah 53:5 is taken out of context to guarantee physical healing. The actual meaning is healing from sin unto eternal life.
3. Fear
They believe fear is also a force that activates the devil. By speaking words of fear, you can bring sickness, disease or even death into your life.
4. Possession
They believe Christians can be demon-possessed, even though Jesus taught the opposite. If they are experiencing this within their congregation it is because they are not saved.
Mark 3:27
5. Prayer
They believe to pray “Thy will be done” is a lack of faith, even though Jesus taught the opposite.
Matthew 6:10
6. Prosperity
It is always God’s will for you to be wealthy. If you give to their ministries, in return you will be blessed and your bank account will overflow. It is the wrong focus. We give our time, treasure and talent to further the Kingdom of God, not for selfish motives.
7. Little gods
They believe Christians are little gods. Man is deified and God is demoted. God was once as we are now (similar to Mormon doctrine). They believe God lost control of the earth from Satan. Satan is also deified and God is demoted.
8. Atonement
They believe Jesus became a satanic being on the cross. He didn’t redeem us on the cross, but redeemed us in hell where He defeated the Devil. He finished the work of atonement in Hell. Jesus was the first man to become born again at that point in history. That’s when His divinity returned.
9. False Prophets
Many prophecies have been made that haven’t come to pass in the time frame predicted.
Deuteronomy 13:1-3
“If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder, 2 and the sign or wonder that he tells you comes to pass, and if he says, ‘Let us go after other gods,’ which you have not known, ‘and let us serve them,’ 3 you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams. For the Lord your God is testing you, to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
Does Isaiah 53:5 "by His stripes we are healed" guarantee physical healing ?
No. The context of this verse is spiritual rather than physical . Christ was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities. Peter builds on this understanding (1 Pet 2:24). [ 1 ]
1 Peter 2:24
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.
The physical healing is not referred to in Isaiah 53:5. It is referred to in Isaiah 53:4. Physical healing here is not only clear in context, but is affirmed by the Gospels where it is given an important qualification. This is a sign and fulfillment. (Matt 8:16-17). [ 1 ]
Isaiah 53:1-5
Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? 2 For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot,
And like a root out of dry ground; He has no stately form or majesty That we would look at Him, Nor an appearance that we would take pleasure in Him.
3 He was despised and abandoned by men, A man of great pain and familiar with sickness; And like one from whom people hide their faces, He was despised, and we had no regard for Him. 4 However, it was our sicknesses that He Himself bore, And our pains that He carried;
Yet we ourselves assumed that He had been afflicted, Struck down by God, and humiliated. 5 But He was pierced for our offenses,
He was crushed for our wrongdoings; The punishment for our -being was laid upon Him, And by His wounds we are healed.
Matthew 8:16-17
Now when evening came, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed; and He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were ill. 17 This happened so that what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet would be fulfilled: “He Himself took our illnesses and carried away our diseases.”
Jesus didn't defeat Satan by stepping on the head of a snake. Moses used this prophetic metaphor in Genesis 3:15 to communicate what Jesus would accomplish on the cross.
Genesis 3:15
And I will make enemies Of you and the woman, And of your offspring and her Descendant; He shall bruise you on the head, And you shall bruise Him on the heel.”
Finally, in a real sense Christ's atonement on the cross does extend to physical healing as communicated in Rev 21:4. Paul points out "We hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently" (Rom 8:25). [ 1 ]
Revelation 21:4
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.”
Romans 8:25
But if we hope for what we do not see, through perseverance we wait eagerly for it.

Johnson, Bill
Johnson “Works cannot save us, but without the fruit of good works in our lives, we lack the evidence that identifies us as a new creation in Christ. Just as God’s nature is revealed in what He does, the evidence that we are being transformed into His likeness is that we reveal His nature in what we do.” “What are these good works?”
John 14:12
‘Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.’ It can’t be stated more plainly. Those who believe in Him will demonstrate signs and wonders”
