Evangelism

A common mistake Christians make derives from the notion that someone can be talked into the kingdom of God. While the motivation may be sincere, the consequences are often devastating. No matter how eloquent you may or may not be, you cannot change anyone’s heart – only the Holy Spirit can do that. Christian Apologetics is an act of worship, pointing people to Jesus. It is our responsibility to always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.

1 Peter 3:15

but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence

Jesus declared, “And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed” (John 3:19-20)

The problem is not that people cannot believe, it is that they will not believe. It is often not at matter of the mind but a matter of the will. A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still. But if we are prepared to give answer, God will bring into our paths those whose hearts he has prepared.

John 3:19-20

This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.

1. Use Scripture, not the words of men

2. Don't get sidetracked on rabbit trails

3. Sharing the Gospel is the goal
